Cenicero.

Cenicero sits in the Rioja Alta zone of La Rioja, where the Ebro river curves past vine-covered slopes. The village grew up around its wine trade, and the surrounding land still shows it: stone bodegas and rows of vines climbing the gentle hills, with a skyline shaped more by ageing cellars than monuments.

Several long-established Rioja wineries keep their cellars here, with stone facades and old ironwork that give parts of the centre its working, unpolished character. Paths lead out through the vineyards toward neighbouring villages, opening onto views across the valley.

The grape-growing calendar shapes the year, from pruning and flowering through to the September harvest, when activity picks up at the presses and bodegas across the area. Local restaurants serve Riojan dishes built around lamb and the region's own wine, reflecting a place whose identity has stayed close to the land around it.
