Torremontalbo.

Torremontalbo sits among rolling vineyards in La Rioja, one of Spain's best-known wine regions. The village is small and quiet, built around a cluster of traditional bodegas that have made Rioja wine for generations. Stone houses line narrow streets, and the surrounding hills are covered in vineyards that turn deep red and gold as harvest nears.

Life in the village follows the rhythm of the vineyard calendar. Spring brings new growth to the vines and wildflowers along the field edges. Summer is warm and still, with long light over the rows of grapes. Autumn is the busiest season, when the smell of fermenting wine fills the streets and bodegas fill with the sound of the harvest. Several of the local wineries open their cellars for tastings, pouring wines made from grapes grown on the slopes just outside the village.

Outside the bodegas, the countryside is good walking terrain, with dirt tracks running between vine rows and old stone outbuildings scattered across the hillsides. The pace here follows the vines, and the views across the valley change colour with every season.
