Turckheim.

Turckheim is a walled town on the Alsace Wine Route, close to Colmar, built around a compact core of half-timbered houses and narrow cobbled streets. Several fortified gates survive from its medieval defenses, and within them the town keeps much of its old layout. A night watchman continues an old tradition, making rounds through the streets in the evenings. Inside the Church of Saint Anne, frescoes cover parts of the interior. Vineyards planted with Riesling and Gewürztraminer surround the town, tended by family-run domaines that open their cellars for tastings. The preserved fortifications and vineyard land at the town's edge make Turckheim one of the fuller stops along the Wine Route.
