Katzenthal.

Katzenthal lies among vineyard hills in Alsace, its slopes planted with Gewürztraminer and Riesling vines that climb toward the Vosges foothills. The village gives its name to part of the Wineck-Schlossberg Grand Cru, a steep, sun-facing vineyard shared with neighbouring Ammerschwihr and prized for mineral, structured Rieslings.

Wine growers here run family domaines, many open for tastings directly in their cellars. Paths wind up through the vines, with views over the valley and, on clear days, toward the Vosges ridge. The rhythm follows the vineyard calendar: blossom in spring, green vines through summer, and harvest colour in September and October, when grapes are picked and pressed.

Katzenthal keeps a working, modest character. It lies on the Alsace wine route, among larger, better-known neighbours, with its own quiet identity.
