Alp Grüm is one of the most isolated and spectacular railway stations in the Alps, perched on a mountain ledge at 2,091 meters with no road access. The station platform offers breathtaking views down into the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, across to the hanging Palü Glacier, and up to the peaks of the Bernina massif. This unique location can only be reached by train or on foot via mountain trails, creating an atmosphere of complete tranquility. The historic station building houses a simple restaurant where travelers can enjoy local specialties while soaking in the panoramic views. The dramatic change in landscape visible from this vantage point perfectly illustrates the transition from Alpine north to Mediterranean south.
