Frías.

Frías rises on a narrow limestone ridge above the Ebro river, its stone houses built so close along the cliff edge that from below, the town looks like an extension of the rock itself. A castle crowns the highest point, overlooking the valley and an old stone bridge that crosses the river at the foot of the town. Narrow streets wind down from the castle through the old quarter, past houses with wooden balconies and stone doorways worn smooth over time. The parish church of San Vicente stands near the main square, its tower visible from the approach long before the rest of the town comes into view.

Frías lies within Burgos province, in a landscape shaped by limestone cliffs and oak woodland, where small villages and farms sit along the river valleys. Footpaths climb into the hills around the town and follow the river gorge, giving views back to the castle and the rooftops below it. Vineyards and orchards fill parts of the valley floor, and the surrounding countryside remains largely untouched by development. The town keeps the layout of a fortified settlement, with narrow lanes that still follow their original pattern.
