Ryn is a small town in the Masurian Lake District, built around a castle raised by the Teutonic Knights and now run as a hotel. The fortress stands on a strip of land between two lakes, its walls and towers reflected in the water on calm days. The town centre keeps a modest, lived-in feel, with fewer visitors than Masuria's larger resorts such as Giżycko or Mikołajki.
The lakes are the town's other draw. Boats and kayaks launch straight from the shore, and swimming spots sit within easy reach of the castle. Trails through the surrounding forest and along the water link Ryn to the wider network of Masurian lakes.
Ryn's mix of castle setting and open water gives it a character distinct from louder neighbouring towns, with the small-town centre keeping its own quiet rhythm regardless of the season.
