Pedemonte.

Pedemonte sits among vineyard-covered hills in the Valpolicella wine region, the historic heart of wine country around Verona. The village is part of the production heartland for Amarone: grapes from the surrounding hillsides are laid out to dry for months before pressing, concentrating the sugars that give the wine its weight and dark fruit character. The same cellars also turn out lighter Valpolicella and the richer, dried-grape-finished Ripasso style. Narrow lanes link family-run cantine, many open for tastings straight from the barrel room, alongside osterias serving plates built around local polenta, risotto, and slow-cooked meats. Behind the village, tracks through vineyards and olive groves climb into the hills, with views opening across the valley toward neighbouring wine villages. Life here still follows the vineyard calendar, from spring pruning through summer growth to the September harvest, when the cellars fill with new must and the whole valley smells of crushed grapes.
