Lazise.

Lazise sits on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, its small harbor still ringed by the stone walls that once protected the town under the della Scala family. The Scaliger castle stands above the water, its battlements visible from the promenade that curves around the old fishing port. Boats still tie up along the quay, a reminder that Lazise lived from the lake long before it became a holiday destination. Behind the walls, narrow lanes open onto small squares with fish restaurants and wine bars pouring Bardolino from estates just inland. Olive groves and vineyards cover the low hills around the town, part of a landscape shaped as much by wine as by water. The lake sets the rhythm here, quiet in early morning and busier again once the afternoon crowds arrive. Lazise works equally well as a quiet base for exploring the eastern Garda shore or as a stop on its own, where old stone and open water sit comfortably with local wine.
