Vic-Fezensac sits among the gentle hills of the Gers department, in the heart of Armagnac country. The town grew around a bastide plan, with a central square that still holds a weekly market of Gascon produce. Armagnac, the brandy distilled from local grapes, has shaped the area's economy and landscape for generations, and small producers around town continue the tradition.
Vic-Fezensac is widely known for two very different events. Each Pentecost, the town holds a bullfighting feria that fills its streets with music and crowds drawn from across southwestern France. In summer, the Tempo Latino festival brings Latin American rhythms to the same squares, turning the town into an open-air dance floor for a few days.
Outside festival season, Vic-Fezensac returns to a quieter rhythm. Vineyards and farmland surround the town, crossed by paths that follow the gentle contours of the Gers countryside. Armagnac distilling continues year-round, following its own slow calendar of harvest, pressing, and aging in oak.
