Hartberg.

Hartberg sits in the rolling hills of Eastern Styria, its old town still ringed by a circular street that traces the line of the former medieval walls — a layout distinctive enough to lend its name to the street itself, the Ringstrasse. Inside this ring, baroque church towers rise above narrow lanes, and the Karner, a small round chapel that once served as a charnel house, stands nearby. Hartberg Castle overlooks the rooftops from its hill.

Outside the walls, the landscape turns to orchards and vineyards. Wine taverns known as Buschenschanken open their cellars and gardens, pouring local wines alongside pumpkin seed oil, a Styrian specialty pressed from roasted pumpkin seeds. Walking paths link the taverns across the hills.
