Caslano lies on the western shore of Lake Lugano, where the wooded peninsula of Monte Caslano reaches into the water, its slopes covered in Mediterranean vegetation. The village is home to Alprose, a chocolate factory and museum that follows the process from cocoa bean to finished bar. Along the lakefront, a promenade runs past small gardens and a modest harbor where rowing boats and pedal boats are moored. Trails climb from the shoreline into the hills, linking Caslano to the olive groves found along this stretch of Lake Lugano. Local restaurants serve lake fish and Ticino specialties such as polenta.
