Parghelia sits on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, within the stretch known locally as the Costa degli Dei, the Coast of the Gods, together with Tropea and Zambrone. The village overlooks Michelino beach, a long run of pale sand along the shore. Narrow streets climb from the shore past whitewashed houses and small churches to a headland with open views over the water.
Family-run restaurants along the shore serve local seafood, and terraces along the cliff edge fill in the evening as the light over the Tyrrhenian turns gold.
Tropea itself lies a short way along the coast, its old town drawing day visitors, while Parghelia keeps a quieter, residential character. Green hills rise behind the village, framing the beach and marking it apart from the larger resorts further along the Coast of the Gods.
