Le Lavandou sits on the Var coast of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, where sandy beaches curve between rocky coves beneath the wooded slopes of the Massif des Maures. The town grew from a fishing village, and its small harbour still shelters working boats alongside pleasure craft, with the morning catch landing at quayside restaurants.

Behind the waterfront, narrow streets hold pastel-coloured houses, small shops, and a weekly market selling olives, honey, and local produce. Vineyards of the Côtes de Provence appellation spread through the hills inland, producing the pale rosé the region is known for, and several estates welcome tastings.

A coastal path runs from Le Lavandou through pine woods and past quiet beaches toward Cavalière, open to walkers who want sea views without steep climbs. Offshore, the wooded outlines of the Îles d'Or — Port-Cros and Île du Levant — rise on the horizon; Port-Cros is a national park known for its clear water.

The light stays soft well into autumn, and the Massif des Maures behind the town turns shades of chestnut and cork oak as the season cools.
