Leobendorf sits at the southern edge of the Weinviertel, where rows of Grüner Veltliner and Riesling vines surround a village known equally for wine and for Kreuzenstein, the turreted castle rebuilt in neo-Gothic style on a hill above the rooftops. Heurigen scattered through the village open on a seasonal rotation, pouring the current year's wine alongside simple Austrian dishes.
