Höflein.

Höflein sits among the vineyards of the Carnuntum wine region in Lower Austria, close to the Danube. The village keeps its old wine-growing character, with narrow cellar lanes where growers press and store their harvest. Many of these cellars double as small taverns, open seasonally for tastings of the wines that made Carnuntum known among Austrian growers.

Walking paths lead out from the village through the vineyards, with views toward the Danube plain. The pace here follows the vineyard calendar: pruning and early growth in spring, full canopies by midsummer, and harvest activity each autumn, when the cellar taverns are busiest.
