Droß sits among the vineyards of the Kremstal, one of Lower Austria's well-known wine-growing regions. The village is small and unhurried, with narrow lanes running past traditional farmhouses and wine cellars built into the hillsides. Several family-run producers open their cellars for tastings.

The countryside around Droß rewards slow movement. Paths wind through rows of vines toward low hills, with views opening onto the Kremstal valley. A village church anchors the small centre. Local heurigen, the seasonal wine taverns common across Austria's wine country, serve young wine alongside simple regional food, often just for a few weeks at a time.

Droß works well as a quiet base for exploring nearby Krems an der Donau and the wine town of Langenlois, both within easy reach. Its own pace follows the vineyard calendar — budding in spring, ripening through summer, and harvest in early autumn.
