Prozelo is a small village in Portugal's Vinho Verde region, close to the border with Spain. Vineyards cover the hills around it, producing the light, slightly fizzy white wine the region is known for. Stone houses built from local granite line narrow lanes, and small family-run quintas, or wine estates, still press and bottle their own harvest.
The pace here follows the farming calendar: vines are pruned in winter, flower in spring, and are picked in September, when the area turns busy with harvest work.
