Medulin sits at the southern tip of Istria, where a run of sandy beaches breaks up a coastline that is mostly rock and pebble elsewhere in Croatia. The town wraps around a wide, sheltered bay facing the Medulin archipelago, a scatter of small islands that stay in view from much of the shore. Shallow, calm water close to land has long made this a popular choice for families and swimmers.
On the Vižula peninsula just outside town, archaeological remains sit among pine trees above the water. Boats leave the harbour for the nearby islands and along the coast toward Cape Kamenjak, and the same waters are used for kayaking and paddleboarding. Konobas around town serve Istrian staples like fresh fish and maneštra, alongside grilled dishes typical of the coast. Medulin keeps a slower, local rhythm, built around its bay and waterfront promenade.
